GW error.........

Message par peter »

Hi,
After a long time of smooth operation of GW, this morning it stopped running and an error comes up every time I try to start it.... any thoughts what it might be?
Running on XP SP3, no changes are made to any programs.
Thank you.
Peter

Hello Peter,
did you try to reinstall GW ?(If you do so, don't forget to backup your templates and stylesheets.)
It could have been polluted when running disk reorg or even without doing anything. ( If I were you, I would perform a check disk)

Why don't you switch to 312B, it seems very stable and much less resource consumer than previous releases.
The only thing which may bother you is that the statistics DB has to be regenerated.

Ok, I'm running the latest version, it's just that the directory that's named from a previous version. What I did up to now but no luck is....
Back up directory
Un-installed GW....
Checked registry and remove all entries regarding the GW...
Re-installed DirectX and Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library....
Installed GW again...
Configured GW and all seemed to be ok till I try to open a new tab, as soon I hit open new tab the error come up again.
So it seems that there is something else that is wrong, I just can not find what?
Everything else is running ok, I haven't noticed anything strange or problem with other applications, this is a weather PC and the problem happened over night, it was running ok and in the morning I noticed the error message.
Still trying to find what is wrong.
Thank you
Peter

Hello Peter,
the release 0312b should (normally) not close the program, the error handling is usually performing fairly well and would give you information on your error.
The type of error you got at 0250 was generally due to an error in one of the stylesheets or an error in config.cfg file.
There is no similar case reported on recent versions, especially after a reinstall from scratch.
If you do not succeed in finding what's wrong, you may send me your stylesheet directory (zipped) along with your plugins directory (zipped also) and your config.cfg file ( use Personal Message function please), I will try to have a look.

Re: GW error.........(resolved)

Ok, thanks to Jean the problem is resolved, a bad entry in the data caused GW not to respond. Everything is back to normal.

Hello,
this remark is for Antoine,
Hello Antoine,
a MP from Peter regarding this bug, suggested that an error processing routine for errors in csv file would have given a clue and prevented the program from aborting.
Thank you for thinking about that in a next release.

Rgds

I am currently working on V.3 (new core design and performance improvement). I will re-work the CSV plugin too.
