Editing of png images

Message par bertilh »

Would like to modify the color and form of the arrows used in the gauges. I want to change the color of the arrows used to show the min and max in the temperature gauge.
The img_modern_index_20x24.png image is used and I tried to modify the colors with Microsoft paint but when I save the image the background is not transparent any more.

Which is the most easy tool to use for editing .png files and still have a transparent background.

Hi,

I used Paint Shop Pro, it works perfectly. It is not free, but you can find an evaluation version.
Maybe someone knows a freeware...?

Hello bertilh,
you can use the freeware irFanView. This tool is able to manage png transparency - See http://www.mywebsite.force9.co.uk/png/review.htm

A more complete/complex tool is the Gimp
See a list of tools able to handle png transparency: http://howto.wikia.com/wiki/Howto_creat ... parent_PNG

Hope this help

Thanks for the advice. Did try irFanView but when I opend the arrows they were blurry.

The only tools where I could open the .png files and see the transparency were Photoshop and Paintshop Pro.
In Photoshop I didn´t find out how to modify the colors.
In Paintshop Pro I could modify the colors of the pixels and the tried save as ... and optimize png but I did never get transparency although i checked singel layer transparency or alpha channel transparency. I did read the instructions in http://www.libpng.org/pub/png/book/chap ... ch04.div.5 but didn´t get it working.

Which options should I use in Photoshop Pro "optimize png" to get transparency.

It worked when opening a file in Photoshop Pro, the editing and just press save.

In PaintShopPro, before saving your file, you have to set the transparency in the menu "Image-Palette-Réglage de la transparence".
Sorry it's in French because I use only the french version.
But the shortcut for this fonction is "Crtl+Shift+V".

To see the result use "Afficher la transparence", the shortcut is "Shift+V".

I hope this will help
