Hi folks,

I recently stumbled across a website using Graphweather, and I thought "Wow! The graphics are just fantastic!" and downloaded the program. Unfortunately, being not too good at computer stuff I have fallen at the first hurdle, in that I can't even manage to get Graphweather set up properly!

I am running a Davis VP2, and weather display 10.37m. My problem is I do not understand which plugins to use, or which data file to direct GraphWeather to!

Any help would be greatly appreciated, particularly if it is written in simple English that a six year old could understand!

Many thanks in advance.

Andy

Hi, you can use WD's logfiles (like 102008lg.txt) in combination with CSV plugin from Graphweather and put it on space-delimited.

Hi scanman,

I have also a VantagePro 2 station.
I use the plugin "VantagePro.dll" without any problems. Use Weatherlink to upload the datas on your computer and select the *.wlk files or directly the directory where are all the wlk files.
And hop it works 8)
I find it easier than using csv files

Thank you. I managed to get it to work with Weather Link, but that involves having to exit Weather Display which is my default program. I shall have a go with the CSV log files that Weather Display produces, as you suggest. I am mightily impressed by the quality of the graphics that Weather Graph produces, though. This is a very neat program!

Thanks again. :D

Hmmmmmm....... I still cannot get it to work with my Weather Display log files. I have selected space de-limited in the options tab, but the graphs are still blank. What should the other settings be?

I guess nobody here wants to assist me in this. I really like the graphs but I am having problems getting it to work setting up the dll and csv files or however you set them up.

Hi Chuck,

I have a VP2+ but I use WeatherLink combined with GraphWeather. Then I use the *.wlk files crated by weatherlink and no csv files from any other program.
If you decide to switch to WeatherLink I can help you.

Yes Chuck, you can use the Vantagepro.dll with the wlk files.

In GW, choose the plugin "Vantagepro.dll" and define the source directory with *.* (something as c:/programfiles/weatherlink/station/*.*" where "station" is the name of your station directory). GW will deal alone with all the wlk files, making the needed links from a month to another.

Trick : To download datas from the station's base through the datalogger more often than an hour, use the "Setup - Internet settings" section, create a profile which will generate files on your harddisk (if needed you can upload files on your website, for example I upload the NOAA reports), choose the "Upload Frequency" (5 minutes for example), and select the option "Download Weather Station first".
If you use the "Auto Download" menu, you will only able to download once per hour (with the choosen offset).

As an example, here are my settings in Weather Link...
Have fun...

How hard is it to set it up on your web server. Is it pretty simple or is it difficult. Thanks for your time Pidou.

It shouldn't bee too hard. But it's for your skills to decide.
Grab an old PC and try it out on your LAN. It should be quite fun and educational.
You have the choise of Win or Linux.
You can check indigoperl that has a windows setup with php / Perl.
Or go for a Linux version.
There are probably howto's available on the net. There are plenty of straightforward Linux servers available. The good thing is that the server can be an old and slow outranket PC. Check out Ubuntu Linux. It's quite good for windows people. Look'n feel is quite close.

If you're going down this road I romise hours and hours of fun. Trial and error.

Then take your time to make sure it works before you go live. Run it for weeks just on your LAN!

Then invest in a static IP address or google 'dynamic DNS'.
Last is to buy a domain name and your going public.

Enjoy.
