I'd like to import data from an additional instrument, a SQM-LE, that measures the night sky brighness.
http://www.unihedron.com/projects/sqm-le/
It's control software is able to write a CSV text file with the real time data: http://www.knightware.biz/sqm/reader.htm
The format is like the one I attach below.

I've tried to add an additional sensor in GW but it only allow to select a standard measurement (temp, rh, etc...) while I cannot add in example the night sky brightness (column 2, MPSAS).
Is there a way to add this so that I can generate graphs with also this interesting information?

Regards

Example of CSV file:
Date/Time,MPSAS,NELM,SerialNo,Protocol,Model,Feature,Temp(C)

Hi again,
this one should be easier !
You just need to use one of the optionnal plugins with csv.dll.
Be carefull with the date and time parameter. I just noticed that this an AM/PM time, this is unusual and the format should be
%I:%M:%S %p

Regards, looking forward to see your results !

Jean

Thank you again!
Unfortunately I've not yet a SQM-le in my hands :( , so the log I've posted is the one found on the manufactuter website, that seems to be US formatted. Maybe this formatting will be different on my Italian o.s. as well in your (I hate AM/PM! ).

But my question was mainly about HOW TO use this data in GW :?: , as there is not a field dedicated to MPSAS (in example). Then I'd like to add this in a graph, but the modification of an xml is another iussue...

Regards

Hi,
GW can be use to plot any kind of data, even if they have no direct link with weather.
It is very simple, you just affect any probe you wish with the data fields in your file.
You will just have to set for each probe the maxi, mini values :
Options -> Probes ---Select the probe->define the values.

Then the data use is the same as for the main plugin, just use the correct probe name..
That should be all ! ! !

Ciao Carlo,
I just checked the user manual. It seems that the SQM is able to produce data (I think it should be text).
You can use this file white one of GW optional plugins.
To draw a graph, you may use any probe of GW optionnal plugin and associate it to the SQM data field that you want to plot. (don't forget to desactivate automatic probe correction)
I hope it's clear for you

Ciao Carlo,
do you have a way to produce records on a longer time base (instead of 1s, I think that 5 minutes would be enough) ? You will not be able to produce graphs matching your weather's ones because of this huge timespan difference.

Anyway, to set optional plugin parameters you should do :
unchek filter erroneous value
From formated date
column date and/or time column 1
%Y/%m/%d %H.%M.%S (%S depends on seconds column or not)

Now, you have to associate GW probes with your data columns
Ex
humidity 1 col 2
Humidity 2 col 3
Humidity 3 col 8

Then you will have to create your graphs (1 2 or 3 lineplots depending upon the way you whish to display your data).
If you run into troubles, just send me your SQM file with a MP, I will try to see how I might be helpfull.

Hello J.J.

i send you a link of official database of my sqm-probe.

The very important information is a MPSAS

http://www.carlomartinelli.net/Meteo-Le ... dinara.txt

the other information is : NELM and Temperature of sensor.

SQM data ->>MPSAS is a quantity of dark, plus dark plus valore. In the mooring the valuer is lower near 0 or zero

I do not have istruction of g-whather, and only information is in a forum. Nothig user guide and i do not understand to make a graph in xml or another system.

I want the data possible in in only graphic Data/time and SQM-MPSAS value. This graphic is significative to know in the years the quantity of light pollution and tendence whith a new rules in veneto and in another region.

Another question is export a single read of meteo date (Istant-Meteo record) on a single read of SQM data and moon fase
to interpolate and calculate the cloud information and the interference of moon at a sqm read.
Please send me any information about to make and know to create this graphic.

Thanks and greatings from italy.

Carlo Martinelli

Ciao Carlo,
OK I will do that.
Your txt file has a problem : the data separator is comma (,) and the decimal separaror also. Could you have a decimal dot (.) .
The five minute gap is OK.

Jean

Edit : OK, it is fine, only data from april 2 are wrong, I will suppress then.
